Statement of Faith
The Scriptures
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God and are completely verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings. We believe that this inspiration extends equally and fully to all parts of the Scriptures, and that they are the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
John 17:17, II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:19-21
The Godhead
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that each has the same attribute, nature and perfections.
Matthew 28:19-20, John 1:1-2, II Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ – His Person and Work
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was eternally begotten of the Father and was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe that Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world as the substitutionary sacrifice and that all who place their faith in Him as their Savior are declared by God to be righteous. We believe that salvation and justification are by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone. We believe that Christ’s crucified body was raised from the dead and that He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father and serves as our high priest, advocate, and mediator.
Luke 1:26-35, Philippians 2:6-11, I Corinthians 15:1-8, Colossians 1:15-17, Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 3:21-28
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.
John 15:26, John 16:7-14, Ephesians 2:20-22, Romans 8:9, I Corinthians 6:19-20
Mankind
We believe that God created male and female in His image. Adam and Eve sinned and thereby incurred the judgment of both physical and spiritual death, which is eternal separation from God. All human beings, with the exception of Jesus Christ, are born with a sinful nature and are accountable for their sin and need to be born again.
Genesis 1:1, Genesis 3:1-6, Ephesians 2:1-10, Romans 3:23, Psalm 51:5, Jeremiah 17:9, I John 1:8-10
Salvation
We believe that whoever believes solely in the finished work of Jesus Christ receives the new birth, becomes a partaker of the divine nature, and thus becomes a child of God and sealed by the Holy Spirit once and for all, forever.
John 1:12-13, John 3:3-16, Ephesians 2:8-9, I Timothy 2:3-6, I Peter 1:18-19,23
The Church
We believe the Church began at Pentecost with the baptism of the Holy Spirit and consists of all those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ is the head of the church, called His body. A local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together under Biblical leadership for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, for fellowship, for the proclamation of the Gospel, and for the observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Matthew 16:16-18, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:4-5, Acts 2:42-47, Romans 11:11-29, I Corinthians 12:13
The Future
We believe in the physical and imminent return of Jesus Christ and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. We believe that the rapture of the saints will be followed by the tribulation period and then to return to reign on the earth.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved to everlasting blessedness and of the unsaved to everlasting punishment. We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, is the author of sin, the open and declared enemy of God and His Church, the prince of this world who has been defeated through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and will be eternally punished in the lake of fire.
Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:14-16, I John 3:1-3, John 14:1-6, Revelation 20:11-15, 21:3-4, Ephesians 6:10-12
